THONET VIENNA / MILAN INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR 2007

Gebrüder Thonet Vienna has always been renowned for its ingenious solutions, innovative technologies and particular attention to detail in terms of functionality, beauty and durability. A great tradition that dates back to Michael Thonet's quest to experiment with new working methods, such as the curving of beech wood which has become an icon of large-scale industrial production. The company has produced historical pieces that have marked fundamental milestones in design for mass consumption. Today it is a brand that specialises in the evolution of the contemporary home more than ever, where surfaces are reduced and spaces become fluid, transforming into each other. Gebrüder Thonet Vienna designs flexible furniture with interchangeable functions, combining comfort and ease of use with the ability of reducing size in a matter of seconds. Produced in the most modern of materials, which Gebrüder Thonet Vienna has a familiarity second to none, these pieces feature quality construction details and an essential style. It is the reflection of a brand with a long history and the capacity to invent domestic environments that are always new.

At the International Furniture Fair 2007 Thonet Vienna showed this followings products:

B751, from Historical Archives Gebrüder Thonet Vienna, 1930. A new version of the legendary B751. A great contemporary classic that is renowned by designers worldwide. A model designed in 1930 by Gebrüder Thonet Vienna, confirming the connection with its rich past and its continuous innovation.

The geometrical interplay of its surfaces is light and intelligent, like origami, in Isis designed by Jake Phipps who presents a total innovation in the contemporary evolution of folding chairs. It is a project born from a careful analysis of final use together with an expert construction and development of forms.

Paso Doble, designed by Gebrüder Thonet Vienna R & D is a complete and flexible programme with five extendabìe tables, in a variety of sizes, that respond to the many needs of the contemporary home where space is limited and the living area and kitchen often blend into a single environment. The extension system studied for Paso Doble is the latest evolution in the technology of extendable tables.

Tango – designed by Giulio lacchetti – is forms that transmit a sensation of solid essentiality. The design inspiration originates from the observation of the trabeated system used in viaducts: two columns holding up a beam that, when extended beyond the two supports, ends in two cantilever sections. Tango's extension system is simple and ingenious.

Moreover there is Twiggy designed by Gebrüder Thonet Vienna R & D. The Twiggy chair is easily matched with any of the tables from the Gebrüder Thonet Vienna collection. A perfect combination of comfort, warmth and elegance that is ideal for both the home and public use.
