 GREEN HOME PROJECT
at the 64th International Handicrafts Exhibition

No other region shows such a tradition of perfect balance between man and both natural and artificial environment like Tuscany. We can just think of the harmonious development of villages and cities, of the thriftiness of rural economy where nothing was wasted, and of the skilful use of materials, typical of the craftsman workshop.
Starting from such premises, the consortium Casa Toscana, in co-operation with the DPMPE / Department of Processes and Methods of the Building Production of the faculty of Architecture, the Specialisation School of Industrial Design, university diploma in Wood Technologies, Distaf / Department of Environment and Forest Sciences and Technologies of the faculty of Agriculture, Florence University, and the institute Ambiente Italia of Milan, within the agreement of "Agreement for the managing of innovation in the Tuscan sector of wood, furniture and furnishing" signed by the Tuscan Region Government, promoted the Green Home project. This project aimed to involve some selected Tuscan firms in order urge them to manufacture products that have eco-compatible characteristics. (see ideamagazine.net n.0.)
At the 64th International Handicrafts Exhibition (April 21st - May 1st) the consortium Casa Toscana showed the products manufactured on the base of the pilot experience which had involved some firms of the High Valdelsa area. Other pieces of furniture shown at the exhibition were manufactured by companies which are going to join the Green Home project on a regional level.
Among the firms which have taken part in this project - many of which are really important - : Alba spa / Baga srl / Bini snc / Carlo Lotti and Seghi Andrea snc / CO.E.F. scrl / Copart srl / D.B.M. Furniture Industry srl / Delight / Dema spa / Donati & Gasperini snc / Effeti Industrie spa / Famam srl / Ferlea of Milvo Benini / Formichi srl / Formitalia srl / Giemmegi srl / Gilma srl / Giovannetti Furniture Collections srl / Halto srl / Furniture Fattorini of Fattorini Piero / Furniture Valdichiana srl / Segis spa / Toncelli Kitchens spa.
The exhibition showed the typical motives of the Tuscan house and tried to renew them, claiming a continuity between tradition and the recent care for ecology.
